I’m Iris, the maker behind Atelier Nua.

I first came across clay while working in retail and sales. Something about it immediately felt right. It gave me a sense of calm and focus that I had been missing.

That feeling stayed with me and eventually led me to leave my work in retail and sales to focus on ceramics. In my studio, I make each piece by hand, from shaping the clay to glazing and firing.

The curves and natural variations of the female body are a recurring inspiration in my work. I’m inspired by its natural beauty and uniqueness. The same appreciation for simplicity, authenticity and natural imperfection guides my work with clay.

Outside the studio, I enjoy spending time in my garden, caring for my animals and being with my family. I’m drawn to a slower pace of life, with more room to notice and appreciate what is around me.
